What Is Pregabalin Used For?
• Neuropathic pain — diabetic, post‑herpetic, spinal cord injury

Important Safety Information
• Dependence & withdrawal: physical dependence occurs; withdrawal requires gradual taper (over minimum 1 week).
• Respiratory depression: risk with concomitant opioids, benzodiazepines; COPD patients.
• Dizziness & somnolence: very common (30–40%); impair driving.
• Suicidal ideation: monitor for mood changes.

Who Should Not Take Pregabalin?
Avoid if you have:
• Hypersensitivity to pregabalin
• Severe renal impairment (dose adjustment required; not absolute contraindication)
• Hereditary galactose intolerance (excipient caution)

Possible Side Effects
Common: dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, oedema, blurred vision, weight gain, constipation.
Serious: angioedema, respiratory depression, rhabdomyolysis, thrombocytopenia.

Dosage — General Guidance
• Neuropathic pain/anxiety: start 75 mg twice daily (150 mg/day). Increase to 150 mg twice daily (300 mg/day) after 3–7 days. Max 600 mg/day.
• Fibromyalgia: 300–450 mg/day.
• Seizures: 150–600 mg/day.
• Renal adjustment mandatory. Taper gradually.
