What Is Gabapentin 300mg Used For?

Important Safety Information
• Dizziness & somnolence: common; impair driving.
• Abrupt withdrawal: precipitates withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, insomnia, nausea, pain).
• Respiratory depression: risk increased with opioids, benzodiazepines.
• Suicidal ideation: monitor for behavioural changes.

Who Should Not Take Gabapentin?
Avoid if you have:
• Hypersensitivity to gabapentin
• Severe renal impairment (dose adjustment required; do not avoid entirely)
• Myasthenia gravis (caution)
• Pancreatitis (caution)

Possible Side Effects
Common: dizziness, somnolence, peripheral oedema, ataxia, fatigue, nystagmus.
Serious: respiratory depression, severe skin reactions, suicidal thoughts.

Dosage — General Guidance
• Neuropathic pain (adults): day 1: 300 mg once; day 2: 300 mg twice; day 3: 300 mg three times. Titrate to max 1800–3600 mg/day.
• Seizures: 900–1800 mg/day in divided doses.
• Renal adjustment required. Taper over minimum 1 week.
